Your Citizen Journalist, Matt Britten.

Hello.

My Name is Matt Britten, and I will be covering the Democratic National Convention as a "Citizen Journalist" for MySpace and MSNBC. You can catch me on "Morning Joe" and other shows on the tube.

More importantly, you can follow my reporting here on Newsvine. It's my goal to ask the questions that you want asked. So, if you're watching the convention on TV, and you wonder to yourself..."Hmmm...I wonder what that congressman thinks about such-and-such," post a comment here on my Newsvine column. I'll do my best to get the answers you are looking for.

The address is easy to remember: convention.newsvine.com.

For those of you wondering how the heck I became the MySpace/MSNBC Citizen Journalist, here's the deal: MySpace and NBC News hosted a contest on the Decision08 page at http://www.myspace.com/decision08 . Hopefuls such as myself submitted two minute videos explaining why we would be the best man or woman for the job. In the end, after 50,000 votes, I was lucky enough to be selected.

And now, I look forward to helping make this convention as accessible to you as it possibly can be. Drop me a comment and let me know what you are looking forward to this week.

Talk to you soon!

Hey Matt --

Here's hoping you stick around on Newsvine *after* the convention, and continue to post content. We need all the new users we can get, especially when they're interested in posting citizen journalism.

Good luck!

Matt, loved your video on MySpace. I registered for a MySpace account just so I could vote on the Morning Joe video contest. Glad you won! :)

Nah, not my kind of thing but you'll have to hook-up with Killfile, Viki and Miss Dev along with Calvin. It will be a good crew.

I must of been wrapped up in the convention excitement because I had completely forgotten about the MySpace contest. Congratulations on being chosen Matt, you are most definitely welcome to Newsvine.

I won't be at either convention but I'm based in Minneapolis so I'm going to hop over to Rally for the Republic and check on the masses gathered in Saint Paul.

My understanding is that you're going to be doing - for the most-part - video work. Is that still the case?

Welcome, and congratulations, Matt! That's a really cool accomplishment - I don't use MySpace so I haven't seen the contest, but I know there had to have been some pretty tough competition. I also hope you'll continue to stick around NV after the convention - and you're going to meet some of our best 'viners there!

Great video, Matt. I can see why you won. But, what does your hair 'really' look like??
