Many versions of 'Bush Doctrine'

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin seemed puzzled Thursday when ABC News anchor Charles Gibson asked her whether she agrees with the "Bush doctrine."

"In what respect, Charlie?" she replied.

Intentionally or not, the Republican vice presidential nominee was on to something. After a brief exchange, Gibson explained that he was referring to the idea -- enshrined in a September 2002 White House strategy document -- that the United States may act militarily to counter a perceived threat emerging in another country. But that is just one version of a purported Bush doctrine advanced over the past eight years.

Discuss.

Whatever ! Any and all of these Bush doctrines brought shame and embarrassment to America which ironically has the best universities and professors in the world. If we are not careful, we will be electing another stupid one in the White House. Palin is pathetic.

Who cares!

It was obvious Palin was very uncomfortable for the whole interview.

What was really scary was her willingness to go to war with Russia over Georgia. Contrary to McCain we Americans are not Georgians. Who cares about Georgia!

Grabanidiot, I agree! I find her highly repulsive and so backwater. She is such an embarrassment to all Americans. I can just visualize her showing up in Washington with a bear skin thrown over one shoulder and a elk hide thrown over her forever bulging belly! Does she also chew tabaccie too and tote around a spit-toon

Her level of consciousness and intellect reflect several centuries long gone. Just like Bush, she is an embarrassment to any evolving nation, progressing into this century. I wonder what Bush's opinion is of this repugnant rifle toting, cave woman.

If those two got together, I wonder if they would discuss what was more fun and enlightening, hog-butcherin or blowin the face off an elk. Of course, several platters of crackers and sweet tater pones would be between them to share as they share their tales of the glory of the hunt and all those pipelines. Then they could jump on their ole dawgies and ride into the sunset, praising the glories of mass murdering everyone & everything on the planet while strumming, Praise Jeeezus; we duh good guys, dey all duh bad dudes, kill, kill, kill all dem wolves and dem elk, kill, kill, kill and pass dat der collection plate, Yum and onward dem Christians!

I'm a woman and it's unbelievable that Sarah Palin is considered the best candidate for Vice President of the USA. She didn't have a clue to what Charlie was asking. Someone remotely familiar with the Doctrine could have asked for clarification, but in a way that let us know they were clued in!

Palin is getting a pass because she's an attractive woman, she's got the sexy librarian thing going on. She's not getting a pass simply because she's a woman (did Hillary get a pass, no!). It's all kid gloves and let me lay down my coat for you madame to walk over this little puddle. And boo hoo, Sarah didn't understand the question. Boo hoo, Sarah was tricked. Boo hoo, Sarah was disrespected and we want an apology now.

You know who made her candidacy about sexism? McCain and his handlers. What a disgrace.

I visit here every so often. Each time I do the commentary seems to go farther down hill. Maybe you should call the site hatenewsvine.com which appears what this site has turned in to. The comments are limited in substance. Reminds me of a reality TV show.

To the point. Most in this country, including MSNBC, have articulated that this question was obviously a gotcha question by Gibson. Pathetic! Points continue to be made about her inexperience however most recognize that making this argument does nothing more than bring into view the inexperience of Obama. The majority on this site and the liberal left must be resolved to nothing more than name calling. Why else have the media had such a field day reporting that Obama is off his game. Both campaigns, yes that means Obama you obamabots, have agreed that Georgia should be considered for membership in NATO. If Georgia becomes a member then yes it would be our obligation to defend them and yes even against Russia. Why do you think Russia has threatened to withdraw from NATO. Yes our country cares about Georgia, rightfully so for many reasons.

I hope at some point this site will return to a place where ideas and meaningful debate can take place. Try a little rat poison to clean it up.

After reading a lot of the comments here, I am struck by how the socalled polls concerning an endorcement of McCain/Palin could be so off! This is a good cross-section of people worthy of polling. WHY is this not reflected by the polls?

Everything is so distorted that it is hard to believe what you see. One thing is for sure, though: Palin failed miserably in the interview and will fail miserably in the debate. People really must note this and adjust their thinking.

Many versions of the "Bush Doctrine?" This story is hogwash. I'm sure president Monroe had many positions, opinions, and policies, but everyone knows what "The Monroe Doctrine" is. If you took a history test and answered the question "What is the Monroe Doctrine" with some silly answer like "Monroe had many doctines", you'd flunk! Sarah Palin flunked. The Bush Doctrine is exactly that doctrines that has become known as "The Bush Doctrine": it is a doctrine of preemptive war. Any other answer is a demonstration of ignorance.

Pol: I don't think American women can breed fast enough to fight in all these wars you advocate. Obviously, your worldview reflects on mass murdering anyone and anything that stands between our laying down our pipelines on their soil! I suppose you think this living planet is your personal filler up station, ding, ding. Of course, if this nation of peaceniks, next attacks Russia, you will be right there, on the front lines, with all your mass murdering pals and their lofty and gifted IQ's, just like Cheney and Duhhbya's kids are fighting that glorious cause of glories, damocracies and freedoms, just like Jesus.

I wonder what elk, Jesus would blow off his entire face and be proud as punch for the slaughter. Anyone ever see Jesus toting an assault rifle? Would Jesus torment wolves from a helicopter? What child would Jesus bomb?

A quick perusual of warring in the last several centuries, will alert you to the historical absolute that wars cause more wars and breed hate.

It is apparent you suffer from a bully complex. Do it my way or no way, causin Jesus came down and whispered in my ear, America is all duh good guys and dey duh evil empire! Kill, too bad our oil is under der soil. ding, ding

What would Jesus think of Palin?

Steve: One would think that political commentators would know what the Bush Doctrines are. Nevertheless, David Gergena political commentator on CNN admitted he did not know. And Gergen makes a living discussing these kinds of matters. But Sarah the Super-Woman, as she is so derisively described, is supposed to immediately know the answer to tricky political questions. This will backfire on Obama big time!

Whoa...this guy says there are as many as 7 Bush Doctrines.

Here is the real question "If there are seven did her first answer even make up any of the seven?" The answer to that is NOPE not a one. That makes her look even more stupid don't you think? Bad enough to miss one it is worse to miss just one out of seven. She said:

"I believe that what President Bush has attempted to do is rid this world of Islamic extremism, terrorists who are hell-bent in destroying our nation. There have been blunders along the way, though. There have been mistakes made, and with new leadership, and that's the beauty of American elections, of course, and democracy, is with new leadership comes opportunity to do things better."

Look she didn't say once the doctrine as I see it says we can do this. She didn't know what a doctrine is flat out.

Here are all the definitions of a Doctrine.

1. A principle or body of principles presented for acceptance or belief, as by a religious, political, scientific, or philosophic group; dogma.
2. A rule or principle of law, especially when established by precedent.
3. A statement of official government policy, especially in foreign affairs and military strategy.
4. Archaic Something taught; a teaching.

She would of failed this question for not realizing it is a principle or statement. So there is the first problem.

The second problem is her view that some how another Republican with all the same Republican people that helped bush get in are helping them will some how mean change. I still find it interesting that for the last 40 years not one Republican as ran as a normal Republican.

If Obama and trhe leftist media would have been even a tad less arrogant, Obam might just have won the election. Now it's too late to re-invent himself again.

The Bush Doctrine is easy to understand. It is whatever Bush thinks, at any moment in time, is exactly right and will never change, regardless of new information, better advice, or experienced outcomes. The Bush Doctrine is avoid those who are competent, such as Colin Powell, since they may have a contrasting viewpoint that has merit, and the Bush Doctrine does not allow for contrasting viewpoints, especially those that have merit.

Bush is a good man, of somewhat above average intellect, and is very stubborn. McCain is much the same, except he is not quite as bright, and he makes up for that in stubbornness. Would electing McCain be 4 more years of the same. No. I think circumstance and personality will make things siginficantly worse.

Why do you think Russia has threatened to withdraw from NATO.

Is this another trick question?

Russia is not a member of NATO.

Meloney: True, Russia is not a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) but Russia has veto power in the United Nations. Judging from Obama's recent responses, he is not aware of that fact particularly regarding the issue of Ukraine and Georgia. Let's face it, Obama is "winging it" to a large extent regarding his knowledge of foreign policy. Obama may be a Harvard graduate, but that does not necessarily make a person knowlegeable about foreign policy.

libertiesgirl, point taken. Meloney, yes it was a trick statement not unlike the question Gibson asked Palin. However, if there were a test given tomorrow to all of the candidates over the many points in history, obscure or not, all would fail.

One of the reasons we are failing as a nation is because we no longer require civics in schools and we have never taught real economics in this country. Many schools throughout the country have evolved into a liberal majority. While you may not agree with conservative view points, such as Palin's, aren't we better off as a nation to have contrasting positions. The majority is lead by the few and unfortunately today the few is primarily comprised of the media giants, politicians in Washington and reality TV shows.

I watched this interview and was appalled by her refusal to answer any of the questions in a straight forward manner. Her use of the classic "when in doubt turn your reply into a question" made it appear that she was the conducting the interview and not Charlie Gibson.

In my opinion, the choice of Sarah Palin, was to distract the voters from the real issues of the war and the economy. While everyone debates her worthiness the party moves closer and closer to the Bush Doctrine in Afghanistan, Georgia, and Pakistan. Keeping her in the headlines is a disservice to the American people who are in danger of being "Bush Whacked" again.

Palin could not answser because she was clueless. This country bumpkin is conscious of harassing wolves, blowing away Alaska's strands in the web of all life and how to breed, eat, consume and breed and not necessarily in that order -- and pray for piplelines. And, breed! This is as deep and profound as it gets for this beauty queen, turned governor, already accused of abuse of powers and fraudulent travel claims and pork belly per diem, which if she were in the Army abusing the preceding, she would be sent to prison, post haste!

Even her prayers reflect an individual that is about as conscious as Big Foot, wandering the wilderness and thumping her dark ages chest. Foreign policy issues? She is infinitely more conscious of bulging bellies and more adroit at butchering the bricks, bedrock and mortar of planet Earth than she is of and all national or global issues.

This female, dude, cowboy, reflects dignity, class, grace, cognizance and intellect about as much as a wolf's hide hung up to dry. If would not surprise me none, if after one of her kills, she didn't drink the blood of her victims, nice and warm, oozing from a blown away face. Yuck!

The problem I have with it, is that if Charlie Gibson couldn't articulate the Bush Doctrine accurately, why would he assume Sarah Palin understood what he meant by it.

Good point. There are those that like to use this as a point that Palin is clueless. In reality, the "Bush Doctrine" is probably rather nebulous. She could use the fact that she's not entirely familiar with the "Bush Doctrine" as a sign that she's not a big Bush follower.

Several posters in the recent past have taken note that Americans are literally dumbing down. I was appalled that Americans would elect Reagan until the sub intellects elected Bush, most assuredly one of the most stupid prez's in history. And then came along a female breeding machine with the intellect best depicted by the Salem witch hunts and black magic, a science phobic with the consciousness level of a pennywort bloom that makes movie star Reagan look like the second coming of Einstein, and Bush a cowboy, hog farmer but, at least, he got his tootsies into Yale,

And, then, there came along Palin, a beauty queen huntress right out of the Pleistocene, you know, the Ice Age, an assault weapon in one hand, huuurah, and a pipeline in the other. Was this great huntress ever a commando too, in the Marine Corp. I wonder, when she goes ahuntin merrily if she paints her face in black stripes and wears camofluages, Army issue drawers. huuurah. a go gettin gal. Heay, can she spell, hee haw? Naw!

Obama has been vetted, lauded and ridiculed for over 18 months. He's been thru the media ringer and emerged as an intelligent politician who can go toe to toe with anyone. Whether you agree with him or not, he's been interviewed and scrutinized by everyone in the MSM. Palin has been vetted for all of 4 weeks (?), with only 1 major interview, and still hasn't appeared for any other sit downs, whether with FOX, MSNBC, CNN, other Broadcast Networks or print journalists. So leaving aside the who has more experience argument, the question is why? The answer is simple. Because she's been hidden away cramming with her "handlers" so she won't make any gaffes. Who ever heard of cramming for the VP slot anyway? If you're "experience" hasn't prepared you to face tough questions without cramming, then what does it say about your "ready on day 1" abilities? Not much. Oh I forgot she does has foreign policy experience because she can see Russia from Alaska. All I can see is that McCain has completely lied about his promise to keep his campaign out of the gutter.

"We can't second guess our allies, Charlie"-

A crash course in foreign policy is just not enough. We are trying to elect leaders of one of the most powerful countries in the world, not a church leader. We need someone well versed on foreign policy - not "spitting" out prepared "talking points".

Please! When Gibson asked her what she thought it was she said "His view of the world". That was incorrect. A doctrine is always a dictate or series of dictates, a principle or series of princles that prescribe how one approaches a particular subject or situation. It is never a "view of the world". Once Gibson mentioned preemptive war, then she did better. It was a little garbled, but it was an average person's description of Bush's policy of preemptive war.

Had she asked if he meant the preemptive war part or considering countries that harbor terrorists equally as guilty as the terrorists themselves or any of the other facets of the policy, then I wouild say she was familiar with the term. Whether or not she is to be expected to know all the ins and outs of The Bush Doctrine, one would hope she would know the definition of the word 'doctrine' since she did graduate from J school and should have a command of the English language.

Take the gloves off and go right at both McCain and Palin. Forget the she is a woman. Do you think other world leaders give a damn one way or the other? Do you actually think that other leaders - be they Communist, radicals, etc. are going to treat her with kid gloves if they win the election and she goes on "diplomatic missions?" I think not.

Bang up her like Charlie did. It is obvious that she is clueless about SO many issues it is just not funny. Dig, ask questions that neither she nor their campaign can expect nor prepare for. Press them, follow-up and don't let them off the hook if they dodge the questions with pat answers like she gave "we have to protect the United States". Duh! You think. And Obama is simply going to let the tanks roll across the border so we can be invaded by anyone, is that what you think Miss Palin?

McCain is simply out of touch with the common American and is stuck in the Cold War mentality that led us down this road for so many years. We need fresh ideas and a totally new approach to governing in the 21st Century. The attack, threats and such are not viable in a true collaborative, economic world such as the one we live in now. A world where nation's respective economies are tied together by trade agreements and NOT NATO treaties. I think NATO has caused more deaths than prevented them since it came to be.

I want my President to know what the Internet is, be able to use it more effectively, someone who wants to reach out to other countries to diplomatically address our disagreements and not someone who unilaterally wants to go to war and be an aggressive country.

Palin stated that war with Russia would be required if Russia maintained their attacks on Georgia because of the NATO Agreement. We are already paper thin in Iraq and McCain has Iran in his gun sight. If he is elected I am sure we will go after Iran within the first year of his presidency. This would then be US forces in three countries including Afghanistan. And let's not forget we still have troops in Kuwait as well protecting them from the first debacle 14 years ago. Now add Russia to the mix and then there is a little place called North Korea that loves to make noise every once and awhile - and you can see what a total disaster a McCain presidency could turn out to be if he takes the path of most aggression.

No, it is time to carve a new course for this country. And that time is NOW, RIGHT NOW!

First, when is everyone going to realize that McCain is PART of the Washington beauracracy that he and Palin want to get rid of? Why not vote for Obama and that is one less beauracrat

8 years ago he ran as an outsider, even though he was a member of Congress for approx. 20 years at that time. During the primaries he said he was the "only true Conservative running." Today he says that he is a reformer. So what is he - a reformer, a Conservative or a maverick? I guess it all depends on who he is talking to.

One post says that Pelosi in not a good representative of the middle class. I suppose Mr. & Mrs. McCain with their 7, 8, 9 or God knows how many houses they have are? Yep, all of my friends have a few houses, million dollars homes, thousand dollar wardrobes and refuse to disclose their financial statements. Can you imagine the field day the right-wing nuts would have is Mrs. Obama refused to disclose her tax returns? They'd say she hiding money that was being diverted to fund terrorist attacks on our country.

Another quote from a post states "Or do you want lower taxes, smaller government, higher ethical standards and a realistic energy plan that includes drilling to relieve the short term issues while investing in new technologies that for the future."

          1. The only people who will get lower taxes are the rich, not the poor or middle class.

          2. Smaller government - this is a pipe dream and a buzz phrase that has been said again and again and again for decades. Wake-up, it is never going to happen. Government does not shrink - no matter who is in the White House.

          3. Ethics - please tell me in specifics, what has Obama done that is unethical and why do you think he will be any less ethical than John McCain?

          4. Energy - drilling is not going to solve anything. Do you actually believe that if we drill for the next 2-3 years that gas prices will actually go down long term? Do some research and tell me at what period in our history have gas prices actually DECREASED over a sustained period of time and then remained there? I'll save you the time - NEVER. Drilling is not the answer and even if it was, the problem is that the US does have the refinery capabilities that it needs. We have not built a new refinery in the US in almost 30 years. Wind, solar and nuclear are the way to go.

One very important point regarding Gov. Palin. You need to dig much deeper into her background to see just how ultra right wing and off the charts she really is.

Some points to Google and research for you include:

1.Her wanting for Alaska to succeed from the Union

          2.Teaching Creationism in the schools
3.Censorship of books in libraries – wanting to remove certain books from libraries and wanting to fire a librarian who refused to do so

4.Opposes teaching sex education in school. Pretty ironic since her daughter is pregnant at 17 years old and single.

5.The case where she fired the head of the state police because he would not fire her brother-in-law who was involved in a tough divorce with her sister.

All legit questions that the media should be asking as well as the undecided voters in this country.

Interesting, she pork-stuffed her travel claims' per diem. If she were in the US Army, she would be court marshalled and go straight to prison for such a crime.

She is more of a Earth hater and killer than even ole Bush, who is going down in history as this nation's most rapacious Earth killer! Palin is as qualified to be a vp candidate as a mannequin [sp] in a second-hand clothing store. Cheap, low class and real human trash.

1.Her wanting for Alaska to succeed from the Union
It Has been PROVEN that SHE was never a member of that party. Todd Palin WAS for a few years.

          2.Teaching Creationism in the schools.

Wrong again. She wants ALL theories discussed. Can creationism even be discussed today?

3.Censorship of books in libraries – wanting to remove certain books from libraries and wanting to fire a librarian who refused to do so.

She wanted certain books removed from the children's section that contained innapropriate language

4.Opposes teaching sex education in school. Pretty ironic since her daughter is pregnant at 17 years old and single.

But was it taugt in her school? Before you throw stones, look at barry's mom. Same thing happened.

5.The case where she fired the head of the state police because he would not fire her brother-in-law who was involved in a tough divorce with her sister.

Still being investigated. But we know what the results will be, as barry's supporters are doing the investigating.

I would hazard a guess that there are a lot of Bush followers that don't understand what the man's policies actually entail. It's the only way to explain why they still support him, unless they are rabid hawks like Rummie or Cheney.

Does her "puzzlement" also explain her efforts to fire the librarian who wouldn't ban books? Does her "puzzlement" explain her firing of the state superintendent of police who wouldn't fire her ex-brothen-in-law? Does "puzzlement" explain her view that we should reverse Roe-Wade? Would "puzzlement" explain why whe might invade another "Iraq" just to see what its like to be Commander-in-Chief for a day. How much "puzzlement" do we want in the White House? In our national leaders? People who are puzzled should stay in their old job until their mind clears and they understand the current situation, politically, dipomatically, militarily, and economically.

This is the second time Mr Gibson has displayed his inability to be a professional. The first was at the ABC debate during the primary when he and George Stephanopoulos made complete fools of themselves.

In my opinioin, Ms. Palin didn't convince me that she is ready to handle all the times she would "not blink," but the interview would have come off as more credible with someone other than Charles Gibson.

That is exactly what she said. cholla. When Gibson first asked her what she thought it was she said, "His world view". Did you watch the interview, cholla? I suggest you go back and read the transcript or watch the video before you call someone else a liar.

Here, I'll help you, since you don't seem able to help yourself...

GIBSON: Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?
                PALIN: In what respect, Charlie?
GIBSON: The Bush -- well, what do you -- what do you interpret it to be?
                PALIN: His world view.

                You can apologize now.

While it may be true that there are "many versions," it still rests on the three ideological cores outlined by Dana Perino. That is not the point of the article though. What the article is trying to do is paint the picture that Palin was aware of these variations and was just uncertain of which version to give back to Charles Gibson per his question. This line of thinking would work IF Palin didn't look like a deer in the headlights the first time Gibson asked her what the doctrine was. The fact that she only got it after the third time it was asked shows that, variations of the Bush Doctrine aside, she didn't even know the basic ideological cores.

Going further, her response of "In what respect?" is a classic technique used to goad the questioner into answering for the person being asked the question. IF she knew there were numerous versions of the doctrine, why not say "which version?" or at least give the basic answer of "it's a doctrine of preemptive and preventative warfare." Ultimately, the number and variations of the doctrine are irrelevant because she didn't even know the simplest explanation.

I think the salient point is that she looked as though she had never heard of "The Bush Doctrine". Bush has said all kinds of things over the years, that we were "Going to bring them back, dead or alive" to "I just don't think about him much anymore", re: al Qaeda and bin Laden. Does Sarah know that? If so, what is her point of view? There may be more than version of the Bush Doctrine, but the core is at least the same in all cases, and Ms. Palin should have been ready with a good answer. She reminded me a bit of the "deer in the head lights" that Bush had in the Michaael Moore movie, except didn't have a reporter or someone else to make clear how he had to respond next. I could have responded somewhat cogently, to the Bush Doctrine question, least. Attack on our country would have had me bounding out of that school room to find out more about what was going on and start figuring out how to respond ASAP. Bush has said he didn't want to panic anyone. I don't think he would have by simply announcing that something that needed the President's immediate attention has just come up and sorry, I have to leave. No one would question that, but I digress. Just been wanting to say it for a long time. Palin was a deer in the headlights. I think she got off easy.

You are all wrong when you criticize Mrs. Palin on not knowing what is Bush doctrine!? No one knows! Mr. Bush has no doctrine! The rumors that hit the airwaves about the Bush doctrine were solely for foreign consumption! The Democrats never understood this! They made it into a second Bible ... against Bush. Some kind of "waco doctrine"! It's all politics! I have several graduate degrees and speak fluently four laguages (probably better than some of you speak English). But if someone asked me out of the blue about Bush doctrine, I would most certainly reacted in a very similar way Mrs. Palin did! I would be annoyed at first, and then I would seek clarification! Why are you making a mountain from a mole? It is the heart that you should scrutinize in Mrs Palin, not her knowledge of a changing ephemeron, a fleeting political jargon!

Desert, you are incorrect. If this Neanderthal is going to assume the responsibility of this entire nation as vp, heart is as irrelevant as her beauty status. Herein is the problem; it is her intellect, worldview and knowledge that should be challenged, certainly not her heart.

Personally, I don't even think she possesses a heart as well, the way she blows the faces off elk and wolves? She is scientifially illiterate and does not realize that wolves and elk are biodiversity, the living components that create, support, sustain and maintain Earth's ecosystems, i.e., all the reasons you are alive. Evidently, you may be fluent in a few languages but are stuck in the dark regarding the biogeochemistry of Earth and the ecology of your ecosystem dependent planet.

As far as her status of literacy in this vital science, she rests at the bottom of the barrel. Even Bush is a better Moses than this Earth-hating, planet butchering Neanderthal. A Jackie Kennedy, this broad, ain't! She is a science phobic and illiterate in the most critical science of this century.

They will kill anything they see. Perhaps if they are not hunted the caribou population will drop and there won't bee a need for a waste of open space like ANWAR. Then we can drill there.

You see hunting as immoral. I see barry's drug use as immoral.

They are powerful, important , representative figures, yes. But there are thousands of advisers they listen to before they act! Desert, are you aware that the president of the USA is concurrently attempting to gut the most vital legislation ever crafted in the history of this nation, the only law that stands that protects this nation's ecosystems, i.e., your life-gifting systems? What is moral about an idiot that only knows how to kill the living, physical body of our Earth? This is not only unethical and unreasoning, but pure suicide for mankind. This isn't gloom and doom, a label some low-IQ invented to cause more and more brainwashing and dumbing down of the masses. This is science.

Our planet is struggling under the weight of human too muchness. If you don't agree with this assessment, then you don't know the science of ecology. Morality, when mankind is facing not only global warming, but world food shortages, dying and oxygenless marine ecosystems, and mankind is burying and slathering the face and living body of planet Earth with hot, hot cities and hot, hot concrete. Morality, while human hordes are scrambling the biogeochemistry of Earth that loops from the seas to the land that govern the nitrogen and carbon cycles that are life itself!

Each day, mankind pushes more and more of the strands in the web of life extinct, and this web is your home, your oxygen and fresh water factories, and everything that stands between you and the deadly pathogens in YOUR food chain that cause global disease pandemics, and some of these viruses are capable of wiping out almost every human on Earth. Morality.

It is Earth that needs a little morality and not another Earth killing machine like Palin. The ark was not deployed for nothing; He didn't send a fetus ship. He saved Holy Creation, Almighty Creation because he knew the science of the ecology of Earth, and that dum dum science illiterates would slaughter his Creation. Morality! Earth is dying, and if you don't agree with this, then you are incapable of comprehending all the scientific reasons you are currently getting oxygen, and it isn't anything based on morality or voodoo or black magic.

I long for the press I used to know as a youth. I never knew where Tim Russert was and so I respected what he had to say greatly. Perhaps having a political background and experience with biased reporting helped him understand how a celeb reporter creates credibility.

Gibson was chosen because he was the friendliest to conservatives, short of Fox News.

Most of the questions were simple, basic queries into what her policies would be on several well-known international hotspots. If he had asked her about Armenia or the indigenous polulations in the Amazon, I would understand why she wouldn't be that familiar with the subject matter. To ask her about Israel, Iraq, Iran, Georgia and Russia is foreign policy 101.

The worst thing that might happen is a 7 year war costing trillions of dollars and thousands of lives. You libs are just picky, picky, picky. Who cares if she dosen't know anything about foreign policy? What use is foreign policy when you have the strongest military in the world? I'm just so impressed with the way she handled Russia, and how she thinks that the melting ice caps are not a threat to polar bears. She really learened a lot as mayor of a hamlet and in her long 200 days as governor of 700,000 people. Besides, she says she's going to fight corruption and pork barrel spending, once she's in Washington. I'm glad she's going to start doing that, instead of abusing power and seeking pork barrel spending. That's be just ducky.

This woman is nothing but clueless arm candy for this wrinkled up old @!$%# to parade around and try and get votes from gulliable women who only vote baseed on gender and not the issues. She's for the voters who can't read past the headlines or can't comprehend anything more than Fox News..

This article is idiotic. Palin had never heard of the Bush Doctrine (the one Gibson was referring to, which is by far the one most commonly associated with the term), she wasn't confused by the "multiple versions". She's a foreign policy novice, which is hardly surprising given her background and experience. The idea that she has "foreign policy" experience because she can see the thinly-populated eastern edge of Siberia from Alaska across the Bering Strait is, frankly, ludicrous. In the interview, she reminded me of a schoolgirl who hadn't studied all year, was trying to bull--- her way through questions based on a late night cramming session just before the final exam. She's not even remotely ready to be president. The fact that McCain would choose such a lightweight to be on the ticket, who may become President, is appalling.

Palin didn't have a remote idea of what Charlie Gibson was talking about. If she had known it would have provided her a great opportunity to show how well read and versed on international affairs she actually was. This is an important election, and to give a pass to someone interviewing for one of the most important jobs available to lead us out of this mess created over the last 7 years is an insult to the American people. Yes, there may be 7 versions, (one for each year GW has been in office) however, not to have an idea of even one of them, is certainly an indication of unpreparedness! We cannot afford to overlook the obvious. I do not trust the care of myself or my family on someone who knows less than the American public on the complicated issues of today.

Baloney. Come on, y'all, don't be bought out too and start back-tracking.

Of course Bush is happy with her. She's more like Bush (blissfully, ridiculously unaware) than even McCain is, and that's saying something.

Folks, as fun as this stuff is to watch, it's not sports. This is going to detemine our next AT LEAST four years. I don't wish McCain ill health, but statistically, it doesn't look too good--vote him in and you will very likely get her. Please, please think about what you are doing--not just for your finances but also for the women in your life (destroying our rights) and even our wildlife (do you know how long it takes a wolf shot from a plane to die? Not a pleasant way to go.)

                                      that about sums it up.

And to think this woman is actually running for Vice President of the United States of America

Yes, she didn't know what it is, but she should know because she's next in line to the President. Not knowing doesn't excuse her from knowing foreign affairs. If there are the many facets of the Bush 'doctrines' as they claim, why didn't Sarah tell it to Gibson for a clarification? or why didn't her staff inform her of the different 'doctrines'? or is it because her staff was too ill informed also. Remember, she going to next in line of the President, think about it.

She was puzzled as the question was open ended. He was way to harsh and trying to come off as being smart. She answered the question correctly in terms of preemtive war, refering to Islam extremism. What was next, did he want her to recite the Bill of Rights? LOL

Yeah, reasonable is from the root of reason, which is a strong indicator of basic, inherent IQ; therefore, it would be totally unreasonable for Kitchol to refer to the word reason as they possess none. If you don't have it, you can't get it. Get it, Kitty and ole Chol?
